Blurred lines

Yeah the summer is off to a good start
The guilt of a drunken night and a broken heart
Teamed with a soft touch of another history
Knowing all the feelings she has toward me.

Do you ever just feel that maybe you’re repeating
The surreptitious pattern of every relationship’s greeting
The disillusioned feeling of things to come
Knowing it goes so well until the time you run.

The blurred lines will possibly break us
But let’s just see where this wave takes us
We both know the chemistry must be exhausted
Everyone else saw it before we did.

So I like you, and I could like you more
If I didn’t feel like the catalyst that waged a war
My head all over the shop through too much honesty
I’m still not sure what that means to me.

I’ve got a way with words, you’ve got a way with actions
We have no need for distress and infraction
The karmic handshake of one last mistake
We always end up sleeping in the bed we make.

So I like you, more or less
It’s not about your smile or the way you dress
It’s the little things that won’t disdain
Last time I lost the battle with someone by your name.
